A study focusing on Togolese markets estimated that approximately 900 parrots were traded over the past decade for such purposes (Senni, 2021). This further complicates the ethical landscape surrounding their sale as it reflects cultural beliefs intertwined with wildlife exploitation. Thus, purchasing an African Grey parrot online poses serious ethical dilemmas concerning legality and animal welfare.
